President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan condemned the police raid on Mevlana Mosque in Berlin, the capital of Germany.
President Erdoğan shared a post on his Twitter account, saying, “I strongly condemn the police raid on Mevlana Mosque in Berlin during the morning prayer; it was obviously nourished by racism and Islamophobia that totally ignore freedom of belief and bring Europe closer to the darkness of the Middle Ages day by day.”
President Erdoğan noted the following in his post:
“Europe, which has been referred to as the cradle of democracy, human rights and freedoms for years, has unfortunately turned into a structure that fights its differences today. As Turkey, we believe that no reason could provide a basis for the vulgar violation of a holy shrine. I wish the Mevlana Mosque community a speedy recovery. No matter where and how in the world, we will decisively continue our fight against racism, xenophobia and Islamophobia.”
