President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan issued a condolence message on the anniversary of the August 17 Marmara Earthquake.
President Erdoğan shared a post on his Twitter account at 03.02, when the Marmara Earthquake exactly struck on August 17, 1999.
Erdoğan also included in his post a counter recalling that the earthquake lasted 45 seconds, and made the following remarks:
"I wish Allah's mercy upon our citizens who lost their lives in the Marmara Earthquake on August 17, 1999 and convey my condolences once again to their relatives. We will continue resolutely to take every precaution in line with the understanding that it is not an earthquake, but recklessness that kills."
