President Erdoğan shares post about his visit to Hungary

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan shared a post on his social media account about his contacts in Budapest, which he visited upon the invitation of Prime Minister Viktor Orban of Hungary.

In his post, President Erdoğan said, "I was honoured to be in Budapest for the 6th meeting of the Türkiye-Hungary High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council.

Today is the 100th anniversary of the Treaty of Friendship between Türkiye and Hungary, which also established our diplomatic relations. Our friendly relations with Hungary, which draw strength from historical ties and cultural affinity, go back much further than a century. Our relations were elevated from a strategic partnership to an enhanced strategic partnership with the signing of the Joint Political Declaration with Prime Minister Orban. Hungary is an observer member of the Organisation of Turkic States, we are pleased with their contributions to Organization."

President Erdoğan stated that trade volume between Türkiye and Hungary approached $4 billion in the first 11 months of this year and that they were determined to reach the common target of $6 billion.

President Erdoğan stated that they planned to further strengthen ties in areas such as defence and energy, where they already have fruitful cooperation.

Noting that they agreed with their Hungarian authorities that war and violence will not resolve the issues in Palestine and Ukraine, President Erdoğan also said in his post:

"The international community has primary responsibility for sending the right messages to Israel and putting an end to the ongoing massacre. In this regard, I wholeheartedly believe that our friend Hungary will not hesitate to provide the necessary support.” I would like to thank all our Hungarian friends, particularly President Katalin Novák and Prime Minister Viktor Orban, for their sincere hospitality. I hope that our consultations and decisions will lead to auspicious outcomes."
