President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan shared a message to mark the 571st anniversary of the conquest of İstanbul.
President Erdoğan stated that the conquest of Istanbul was one of the greatest victories in world and Turkish history and said, "I commemorate the 571st anniversary of the conquest of İstanbul. Understanding the spirit of the conquest requires knowledge of how this blessed victory was achieved. Following the conquest, which allowed our dear country to establish itself on a continent thanks to the military prowess and tenacity of our valiant army, İstanbul developed into a hub where many religions and cultures coexisted under the tolerant and fair rule of the great statesman Mehmed the Conqueror."
Indicating that İstanbul bears the traces of history and serves as a source of inspiration for artists, President Erdoğan highlighted the significance of this city that has become Türkiye's hub for business, finance, trade, art, culture, and faith and continued:
"The faith, determination, and perseverance demonstrated by Mehmed the Conqueror and his valiant soldiers during the conquest of İstanbul continue to inspire and propel us towards the Century of Türkiye vision." As we celebrate the 571st anniversary of the conquest of İstanbul, I commemorate with respect and gratitude Mehmed the Conqueror and the brave martyrs who bequeathed us this extraordinary world city, and I extend my warmest greetings to all our citizens."
