President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan sent a written message to the International Strategic Communication Summit 2024 (Stratcom Summit 2024), organised by the Presidency’s Directorate of Communications under the theme "Artificial Intelligence in Communication: Trends, Traps, and Transition," held at Rixos Tersane, Istanbul.
President Erdoğan’s message reads as follows:
I would like to welcome all of you to our beautiful İstanbul, the meeting point of continents, climates, languages and cultures.
I believe that the discussions to be held during the Summit, themed "AI in Communication: Trends, Traps and Transition," will open up new opportunities.
I would like to express my gratitude to all the participants for their valuable contributions, and I wish that the meetings you will hold will be auspicious.
Standing out as a strong actor in the international arena, Türkiye resolutely pursues its multidimensional diplomacy initiatives for the restoration of peace and stability in our region and the world.
With our entrepreneurial, humanitarian, and solution-orientated foreign policy approach, we continue to assume responsibility in every corner of our geography, from the Balkans to Karabakh, from Syria to Ukraine.
Our vision of the "Century of Türkiye," which has become more vivid in our minds thanks to Türkiye's sincere stance and devoted efforts, is shaped by a communication approach that is centred on justice, security, and truth.
The "Türkiye's Communication Model," which we developed with the inspiration of our thousands of years of state experience and our long-standing values, stands out as the most important manifestation of this approach.
Türkiye's Communication Model is an innovative communication strategy that takes into account our country's actual potential in a wide range of fields, from economy to culture and arts, foreign policy to tourism, industry and technology to education.
Türkiye's Communication Model is the product of an approach that does not compromise on courageous and principled journalism in order to give voice to the right rather than the powerful.
One of the most concrete outputs of this approach has been to raise global awareness of Israel's massacre, which has been ongoing since October 7, 2023, thanks to the efforts of all relevant institutions and organisations, particularly our Directorate of Communications, TRT, and Anadolu Agency.
I would like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to our members of the media who work tirelessly to convey the truth to the audiences, even if it means risking their lives.
I commemorate with mercy the journalists who died in the Israeli attacks.
On the one hand, we are exerting these efforts, and on the other hand, we continue to explore the opportunities and risks that artificial intelligence and digital technologies, which have gained popularity in the recent period, have provided to the communications sector in particular.
Artificial intelligence causes the spread of disinformation and manipulation, which has become a global security problem, as well as the dissemination of negative content directed at young people.
As Türkiye, we would like to strengthen a global understanding of artificial intelligence that upholds justice, morality, conscience, and human rights, and we continue our efforts in this direction.
We are implementing programmes to train new technology experts and entrepreneurs in line with our vision of the Century of Türkiye and our National Artificial Intelligence Strategy.
As I conclude my remarks, I would like to congratulate everyone who contributed to the organisation of the summit once again and greet you all with respect.
