President Erdoğan, Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson of Sweden talk over phone

The call addressed issues concerning Sweden’s application for NATO membership.

President Erdoğan reiterated that Sweden should take steps regarding such fundamental matters as combatting terrorism which was of importance to Türkiye.

Stating that Sweden should make concrete changes in its attitude towards PKK/PYD/YPG terrorist organization, President Erdoğan noted that in this regard no tangible action aimed at addressing Türkiye’s concerns was seen to have been taken by Sweden.

President Erdoğan voiced Türkiye’s expectation for the lifting of weapon embargo and legal and de facto restrictions in defense industry as well as the fulfillment of the extradition and deportation requests.

President Erdoğan stressed that as Türkiye they wanted to see binding commitments on these issues together with concrete and clear actions.
