During the conversation, where the prospects for improving relations between Turkey and the United Kingdom were addressed, regional issues, in particular the developments in the Eastern Mediterranean and the tensions created by the Armenian attacks on Azerbaijan, were also evaluated.
Reiterating their commitment to meet the 20 billion dollar trade target by increasing mutual trade and investment, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Prime Minister Boris Johnson of the UK have agreed to deepen and strengthen the cooperation in the field of defence, which has a great potential between the two countries.
During the conversation, President Erdoğan expressed that it was the common interest that the United Kingdom would adopt a balanced and impartial stance on the Eastern Mediterranean and support dialogue and cooperation efforts.
Touching upon the conflicts that unfolded as a result of the attacks of Armenia against Azerbaijan, President Erdoğan emphasized that for the peace and stability of the region, Armenia should withdraw from the territories it occupied in and around Nagorno-Karabakh.
