President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan emphasised during his call with President Zelensky of Ukraine that they are opposed to any decision targeting the territorial integrity of Ukraine.
During the phone call, President Erdoğan, who is in Senegal for the second stop of his African tour, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky addressed Russia's decision to recognise the so-called Donetsk and Luhansk republics. President Erdoğan indicated that he was closely following the developments in Donbas and the decisions announced as a result of the extraordinary meeting of the Russian Security Council.
Remarking that Türkiye's stance was made clear in a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, President Erdoğan stated that the recognition of those so-called republics by President Vladimir Putin of Russia was unacceptable.
President Erdoğan stressed that they are opposed to any decision targeting the territorial integrity of Ukraine and that all the means of diplomacy should be used at the international arena for the resolution of the issue.
