President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan spoke by phone with President Ebrahim Raisi of Iran. The call addressed the Türkiye-Iran relations and regional developments, including the Israeli attacks on Al-Aqsa Mosque.
President Erdoğan highlighted the importance of the unity of the Islamic world against Israel's increasing inhumane attacks in Palestine, especially on the Al-Aqsa Mosque.
Underlining that common sense should prevail in order to prevent a new spiral of violence, President Erdoğan stated that it would be beneficial to take initiatives to steer all parties to common sense.
Calling for maintaining joint efforts to protect the status of holy sites on international platforms, particularly the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the United Nations, President Erdoğan said that it is also important to display this unity in the face of the recent acts of burning the mushaf of the Holy Quran in various European cities, especially in front of Turkish Embassies.
