President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan spoke by phone with President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva of Brazil.
The call addressed bilateral relations between Türkiye and Brazil as well as global and regional issues.
Stating that Brazil's attitude towards the atrocities committed by Israel in the Palestinian territories is praiseworthy, President Erdoğan noted that efforts to establish a permanent ceasefire and deliver humanitarian aid to the region should be enhanced.
Underscoring that though Hamas accepts the ceasefire, Israel continues to increase its attacks and massacres, President Erdoğan stated that it is important to support initiatives regarding the recognition of the State of Palestine at this point.
President Erdoğan also underlined that Türkiye is closely following the ongoing war between Ukraine and Russia and he urged the parties to return to negotiations and work on establishing a fair peace on the basis of rights and law.
Conveying his sadness and condolences to da Silva for the loss of lives caused by the floods and landslides that occurred due to the heavy rains in Brazil, President Erdoğan also stated during the call that Türkiye stands by the people of Brazil.
