President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan spoke by phone with President of the European Council António Costa.
The call addressed Türkiye-EU relations as well as regional and global matters.
Congratulating Costa on his new position, President Erdoğan stated that the revitalization of relations between Türkiye and the European Union is in the mutual interest of both sides and that Brussels is expected to take concrete steps to advance this relationship.
President Erdoğan noted that the formulation of steps for the security of Europe, with the involvement of Türkiye, would benefit and serve the mutual interests of all parties.
President Erdoğan expressed that a fair and sustainable peace between Russia and Ukraine is possible, and Türkiye has been exerting efforts for the establishment of peace from the very beginning.
President Erdoğan added that Türkiye welcomes the exemption provided in the EU sanctions on Syria for the reconstruction of Syria.
During the call, Costa also wished President Erdoğan a happy birthday.
