President Erdoğan, President Alexander Van der Bellen of Austria talk over phone

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan spoke by phone with President Alexander Van der Bellen of Austria.

The call addressed Türkiye-Austria relations and Russia's attack on Ukraine.

President Erdoğan stated that Türkiye was doing everything in its power for the declaration of ceasefire, restoration of peace, and the amelioration of the situation. President Erdoğan drew attention to the significant contributions by the Turks living in Austria to the strengthening of the ties between the two nations, and noted that the Türkiye-Austria relations had the capacity to improve at every level.

Stressing that the latest developments demonstrated once again how important Türkiye was in terms of Europe's security, President Erdoğan expressed Türkiye's expectation that concrete and meaningful steps would be taken in the relations with the European Union, including starting the negotiations for updating the Customs Union and making progress in visa liberalization.
