President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan performed Friday prayer at Grand Çamlıca Mosque in Istanbul.
The President answered reporters’ questions following the prayer.
“INVESTIGATIONS CONTINUE INTO THE FOREST FIRES”
With reference to the forest fires in various parts of Turkey, President Erdoğan underlined that the investigations were continuing into the fires that had simultaneously erupted in different regions of the country.
Stressing that all the relevant ministers and officials had immediately been dispatched to the regions affected by the fires, President Erdoğan noted that 45 helicopters, five or six planes, 1080 water tenders, 280 water trucks, 2270 first responder vehicles, 660 bulldozers, one fire tank, 10550 firefighters and workers, 4110 technical personnel, 6440 forest protection guards and 6440 rangers were actively participating in the efforts to extinguish the ongoing 71 fires, 57 of which had already been brought under control.
“NEARLY 72 MILLION DOSES OF VACCINE HAVE BEEN ADMINISTERED”
Answering a question on the increasing number of COVID-19 cases, President Erdoğan underscored that although nearly 72 million doses of vaccine, including both Sinovac and BioNTech, had been administered so far in Turkey, given the number of the cases, the measures would once again be addressed at the next Presidential Cabinet meeting.
US’ SHIPMENT OF ARMORED VEHICLES TO ALEXANDROUPOLI
As regards the US’ shipment of armored vehicles to Alexandroupoli, Greece, President Erdoğan said this had been a planned shipment of the US since 2014, and that there was nothing unusual about it, adding that Turkey was doing its part regarding all those developments and taking necessary precautions.
