President Erdoğan performs Friday prayer in Istanbul

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan performed Friday prayer at Hz. Ali Mosque in the Üsküdar district of Istanbul.

President Erdoğan answered reporters’ questions after the Friday prayer.

DISPROPORTIONATE USE OF FORCE AGAINST YEMEN

Asked about the attack by the US and UK on Yemen, President Erdoğan responded: “First of all, this is not a proportionate act. All of these acts are disproportionate use of force. Israel is carrying out the same disproportionate use of force in Palestine at the moment. In the face of all of these, Iran is seeking to protect itself. The UK has always taken its steps jointly with the US throughout this process, and continues to do so. They are eager to turn the Red Sea into a bloodbath. Yemen, namely the Houthis, say they have given and will continue to give the necessary response to them, be they the US or UK, in the region by using all their power. They add that there is no room for complacency on this issue. We are receiving information through various channels. We learn through various channels that the Houthis are successfully defending against and responding to both the US and UK.”

“WE BELIEVE IN THE JUSTICE OF THE ICJ”

In answer to a question about the ICJ genocide case against Israel, President Erdoğan stated: “They have begun to defend themselves as of now, but all of the documents we have provided are seriously working in The Hague. We will increasingly continue to deliver such documents. I believe that with the documents we have delivered, which are mostly visual documents, Israel will be found guilty. That is our expectation because we believe in the justice of the International Court of Justice.”

Stressing that what Israel has been doing in Palestine cannot be described as self-defense, President Erdoğan said: “Israel has turned Palestine, an open-air prison, into a bloodbath since the 7th of the month through its attacks. They have killed, have martyred nearly 22-23 thousand Palestinians there. We, for our part, have taken in for treatment at our hospitals as many children, women and elderly people as we could.”

“WE STAND WITH THE OPPRESSED”

“Who can be fooled by Israel? Netanyahu has no place to run, has nothing to defend,” said the President. “I thought Herzog was sincere, but lately he too has taken after Netanyahu, making strange statements. They will gain nothing by attacking Erdogan verbally. You cannot finish Tayyip Erdoğan through verbal attacks. That is so because we seek the truth and stand with the oppressed. They, however, are acting brutally. I believe the end will be good. The oppressed have never lost. Oppressors have always lost.”
