President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan performed Friday prayer at Hz. Ali Mosque in Istanbul.
President Erdoğan answered reporters’ questions after the prayer.
Reminded that today marks the 6th anniversary of the reopening of the Hagia Sophia Grand Mosque for worship, President Erdoğan voiced the happiness and pride he feels regarding the reopening, noting that Hagia Sophia, whose gates are wide open to all of humanity, whether they be Muslims or Christians, is a unique structure and a place of worship due to its architectural features as well as its location in the world.
Asked about the feedback regarding NATO Ankara Summit, President Erdoğan said that he received very positive feedback, including telegrams and phone calls to express appreciation, adding that he, for his part, considers it a debt of gratitude to thank all the guests participating in the NATO Summit.
In response to a question about the phone call he held with Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez following Spain’s World Cup victory, President Erdoğan said that it is quite natural for Mr. Sanchez to feel happy as the Prime Minister of a world champion country, and expressed his hope that Türkiye, too, will achieve a similar championship.
