The second phase of the “Distinguished Observer Day” activities of the EFES-2022 Exercise commenced after President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's arrival at the exercise area.
The distinguished observer day activities of the EFES Exercise continue in the Doğanbey Shooting Exercise Area in the Seferihisar district of İzmir.
The morning activities observed by Hulusi Akar, Minister of National Defence, with the Turkish Armed Forces (TAF) command echelon, as well as the guest ministers of defence and chiefs of general staff, concluded with precise hits on the predetermined targets.
The second phase of the “Distinguished Observer Day” activities of the EFES-2022 Exercise commenced after President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Chairman Devlet Bahçeli’s arrival at the exercise area.
Welcomed by Minister of National Defence Akar and other officials at Adnan Menderes Airport, President Erdoğan arrived at the Doğanbey Shooting Exercise Area with a CH-47 Chinook helicopter, described as a “flying fortress”, and a flag with the Presidential seal was hoisted on the mast in the exercise area.
President Erdoğan greeted the ceremonial squad upon his arrival at the second observation site, where he would observe the exercise, and then proceeded to the observation spot.
Wearing a navy blue coat with the “Presidential seal” on it and a hat with the inscription EFES 2022, President Erdoğan conversed for a while with the guest defence ministers and chiefs of staff who watched the exercise.
MHP Chairman Bahçeli came to the exercise area with the same colour coat with the Turkish flag and a hat with the inscription EFES 2022.
Following a briefing by the Commander of the Land Forces, General Musa Avsever, on the exercise, elements of the Turkish Armed Forces began hitting targets within the exercise's scope.
In addition to President Erdoğan and MHP Chairman Bahçeli, Vice President Fuat Oktay and AK Party Deputy Chairman Binali Yıldırım are observing the activities of the distinguished observer day.
