Statement regarding President Erdoğan’s meeting with Sudan Sovereignty Council Chairman al-Burhan

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan met with the Chairman of the Sovereignty Council of Sudan, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, at the Presidential Complex.

The leaders discussed Türkiye–Sudan bilateral relations, as well as regional and global developments.

President Erdoğan stated during the meeting that cooperation between Türkiye and Sudan would be further advanced across numerous areas, including trade and agriculture, defence industry, and mining.

Noting that the ongoing clashes in Sudan have resulted in one of the worst humanitarian crises worldwide, President Erdoğan emphasised that actions amounting to crimes against humanity have been occurring, particularly in the El Fasher region, and that firm and decisive steps must be taken to prevent all these.

Stressing that Türkiye desires peace, stability, and the preservation of the territorial integrity of Sudan, President Erdoğan expressed the goal of establishing lasting peace among the Sudanese people by achieving a ceasefire.

President Erdoğan also affirmed that Türkiye will continue to address the needs of the Sudanese people facing the humanitarian crisis by providing humanitarian assistance.
