President Erdoğan meets with Prime Minister Starmer of the United Kingdom

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan met with Prime Minister Keir Starmer of the United Kingdom on the sidelines of the 36th NATO Heads of State and Government Summit at the Presidential Complex in Ankara.

The meeting addressed Türkiye–the United Kingdom bilateral relations, as well as regional and global developments.

President Erdoğan stated that cooperation and close dialogue between Türkiye and the United Kingdom are important, and that the two countries would continue to advance their relations through steps to be taken in the new period.

Noting that global developments have demonstrated the importance of not weakening NATO’s role in our collective security and of preserving the “transatlantic bond”, President Erdoğan also stated that allies that are not members of the European Union should also take part in the EU’s defence initiatives.

During the meeting, the leaders signed the Security and Defence Partnership Document between the Republic of Türkiye and the United Kingdom.
