Statement regarding President Erdoğan’s meeting with Prime Minister Sharif of Pakistan

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan met with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif of Pakistan at Dolmabahçe Presidential Office in Istanbul.

The meeting addressed bilateral relations between Türkiye and Pakistan, as well as regional and global issues.

During the meeting, President Erdoğan stated that Türkiye and Pakistan would continue to take steps to advance their relations and achieve the goal of a five billion dollar trade volume.

Emphasizing that efforts would be made to enhance cooperation in all areas, particularly in energy, transportation, and defense between the two countries, President Erdoğan noted that strengthening solidarity between Türkiye and Pakistan in the fight against terrorism through training, intelligence sharing and technological support would serve the interests of both nations, and added that the Istanbul–Tehran–Islamabad railway line should be made more efficient and that concrete steps in the field of education would contribute to bilateral relations.

President Erdoğan expressed his appreciation for Pakistan’s principled stance on the issue of Palestine and stated that Türkiye was making efforts to ensure the swift delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza.

President Erdoğan was accompanied by Minister of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan, Minister of National Defense Yaşar Güler, Head of National Intelligence Organisation İbrahim Kalın, Presidency's Head of Communications Fahrettin Altun, Chief Advisor to the President on Foreign Policy and Security Akif Çağatay Kılıç, and Commander of the Land Forces Selçuk Bayraktaroğlu.
