President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who is in Kazan for the BRICS Summit, met with President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan.
The meeting addressed Türkiye-Uzbekistan relations and regional and global issues.
President Erdoğan stated during the meeting that Türkiye is taking solid and resolute steps together with friendly and brotherly Uzbekistan, that the two countries have significant potential in the energy and defense industry, and that efforts would persist increasingly to achieve momentum in the economic and cultural fields just like the one in political relations.
President Erdoğan noted that Israel’s attacks on Palestinian and Lebanese lands entail a notable security risk in the region, that Israel should be pressured immediately to abide by international law and human rights, and that the imposition of a comprehensive arms embargo on Israel by the United Nations would be an influential decision in this regard.
President Erdoğan expressed the significance of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus being represented at the highest level at the Organization of Turkic States’ summit to be held in Bishkek and stated that the establishment of permanent stability in Afghanistan is critical for eliminating threats, including terrorism, irregular migration, and illegal drug production.
