Statement regarding President Erdoğan’s meeting with PM Sharif of Pakistan

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan met with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif of Pakistan on the sidelines of the 5th Antalya Diplomacy Forum (ADF2026).

The leaders addressed bilateral relations between Türkiye and Pakistan, particularly, as well as the ceasefire process in Iran and regional and global issues.

During the meeting, President Erdoğan stated that they would continue to take steps to advance cooperation between the two countries in many areas, primarily in energy, trade, and defence.

Emphasising that Türkiye has continued to stand for peace since the first day of the conflict that commenced with attacks on Iran, President Erdoğan noted that Pakistan's efforts and success in achieving a ceasefire have earned the appreciation of the entire world and added that we would work to extend the ceasefire until peace is achieved in Iran.

Underscoring that the ongoing crisis has revealed the need for a new regional security architecture based on solid foundations, President Erdoğan said that he is pleased with the continued close engagement of the Foreign Ministers of Türkiye, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Pakistan at the Antalya Diplomacy Forum.

Emphasising that it is important to strengthen the ceasefire in Gaza, President Erdoğan stated that the chaos in our region should not delay the liberation of Palestine and the implementation of a two-state solution.

President Erdoğan stated that Pakistan’s peace and prosperity are of importance to Türkiye and that Türkiye’s support for Pakistan in resolving its issues with its neighbours through dialogue will continue at all times.
