President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan met with children from the earthquake zone at Dolmabahçe Office on the April 23rd National Sovereignty and Children’s Day.
Greeting his guests one by one, President Erdoğan symbolically left his seat to Akif Uçar, a fifth-grader from quake-hit Hatay.
Making a speech at the meeting, President Erdoğan expressed his joy over the implementation of a large number of projects including the domestically-produced TCG Anadolu warship, and continued his remarks as follows: “In the course of life, there are not only achievements and gains but also disasters and losses. The earthquakes we experienced last February saddened us. Over 50 thousand citizens who lost their lives left behind their beloved ones. Some of you also lost your relatives. I wish Allah’s mercy upon all of our brothers and sisters who passed away.”
Stressing that all the means and resources of the state have been mobilized to heal the wounds inflicted by the February 6 earthquakes as well as to stand with those affected by the disaster, President Erdoğan, addressing the children, added: “I ask you to educate yourselves in the best manner in line with science and our values, living up to the trust the nation has in you. I once again wish you a happy April 23rd National Sovereignty and Children’s Day.”
