President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said, "From the War of Independence until July 15, our Veteran Assembly, which has maintained an unwavering position against all invaders, coup plotters and tutelage groups targeting our country and the national will, has proven that it will always be the flag bearer of the national will.”
President Erdoğan issued a message on the occasion of April 23rd National Sovereignty and Children's Day. He celebrated the 102nd anniversary of the foundation of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye and the April 23rd National Sovereignty and Children's Day.
Noting, "I hope that this historic day, which saw the foundation of our National Assembly as a manifestation of our nation's will and the paved the way to the foundation of our Republic, will be auspicious for our country, our nation, and our children." President Erdoğan went on to say:
"The Grand National Assembly of Türkiye, which has left a century behind with glory and honour, will continue to be the indestructible manifestation of our national sovereignty with the principle 'Sovereignty belongs unconditionally to the nation'. From the War of Independence until July 15, our Veteran Assembly, which has maintained an unwavering position against all invaders, coup plotters and tutelage groups targeting our country and the national will, has proven that it will always be the flag bearer of the national will.
The fact that Ghazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk gifted April 23 to our children, the guarantors of our future, emphasized the significance of today even more. We are working tirelessly to leave a prosperous and peaceful country to our children, youth, and all of our citizens by building a great and strong Türkiye with the strength inherited from our history as well as the excitement and energy we take from our children. We continue to work toward our 2023 goals and 2053 visions, which will also contribute to the ideal of a world of peace, justice, and fraternity."
President Erdoğan expressed his gratitude to all MPs who have served for the country under the auspices of the Assembly from its inception to the present day on behalf of the nation, saying, "I remember with mercy and gratitude Ghazi Mustafa Kemal, the first Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye, all MPs of the First Assembly who commanded the War of Independence, as well as all heroes to whom we owe our independence and future. I congratulate all of our children, as well as all children around the world on their special days.”
