President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan gave an interview to Keir Simmons from NBC News during his stay in New York for the 79th United Nations (UN) General Assembly.
In his interview, addressing Türkiye-Russia relations and Türkiye's decision to accept the invitation to attend the upcoming BRICS meeting in Russia in October, President Erdoğan stated, "We have multidimensional relations with Russia, encompassing politics, economics, culture, and defence industry fields."
President Erdoğan added that the solidarity and economic cooperation between the two nations continue to grow every day.
"Many Western countries continue to remain silent against Israel"
President Erdoğan stated the following about Western countries' attitude towards Israel:
"Unfortunately, many Western countries continue to remain silent and have not taken a stance against Israel. Sadly, there are also countries supporting Israel among the NATO allies. We are currently in the USA, which is one of those countries."
Indicating that U.S. President Joe Biden criticises Israel on the one hand but supports them in different ways on the other, President Erdoğan noted that the USA provides Israel with weapons and ammunition and sent an aircraft carrier to the Mediterranean to show their support.
In response to a question about the elections in the USA, President Erdoğan stated that cooperation will continue regardless of who wins the elections and added:
"It is impossible for those of us who govern countries, nations, and peoples to think differently. On a global level, the USA as well as Russia have a clear stance. We will continue to maintain close relations with all administrations."
