President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan spoke by phone with Ersin Tatar, who was elected as the President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).
Congratulating Ersin Tatar on his success in the TRNC presidential elections, President Erdoğan said: “I hope your election as the President will yield auspicious outcomes for yourself, the people of the TRNC and our Cyprus cause.”
Noting that the Turkish Cypriots have once again shown the entire world their democratic maturity, President Erdoğan stated that Ersin Tatar managed to emerge victorious from the election race, which took place during a difficult period, thanks to the vision he set out for the future and the strong leadership he displayed.
Expressing his unwavering belief that the TRNC will continue its fight for rights and justice with success and self-confidence under Ersin Tatar’s presidency, President Erdoğan stated that he believes the harmonious cooperation displayed during Ersin Tatar’s premiership in every area, particularly regarding the hydrocarbon activities in the Eastern Mediterranean and the TRNC’s development, will be maintained with the same determination.
President Erdoğan added that Turkey and the TRNC will continue in the period ahead, as well, with their efforts for the settlement of the Cyprus issue.
