President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan: The Turkish Maarif Foundation is critical not only in redressing the harm caused by disgraceful FETO members but also in ensuring equal educational opportunities in the countries where it operates.
In a video message sent to the Istanbul Education Summit organised by the Turkish Maarif Foundation in Istanbul, President Erdoğan stated that the Turkish Maarif Foundation served nearly 50 thousand students in 47 countries across six continents.
Erdoğan stated that he believed that the summit, held under the theme of "New Trends and Transformation in Education," would serve as an international platform for the discussion of educational approaches and practices, and expressed his gratitude, on behalf of his country and people, to everyone who would offer contributions to the summit with their valuable ideas.
Erdoğan stated that the Maarif Foundation was one of the organisations that represented Türkiye, our nation's values, as well as global principles, effectively beyond our borders; adding that the Foundation is there to share the wealth acquired through Anatolian knowledge and wisdom with young minds from all over the world, and thus, it contributes to the development of virtuous and qualified generations for the common future, peace, and prosperity of humanity.
Erdoğan underlined that they were delighted to watch the Turkish Maarif Foundation's accomplishments in accordance with this mission since its establishment and made the following remarks:
"Today, our foundation serves nearly 50 thousand students via 414 educational institutions it has established in 47 countries across six continents. Members of the Turkish Maarif Foundation continue their work with tremendous sacrifice and devotion in the world's most difficult and critical locations. The Turkish Maarif Foundation is critical not only in redressing the harm caused by disgraceful FETO members but also in ensuring equal educational opportunities in the countries where it operates. Our Maarif Schools also contribute to the world's transformation and development, as well as to the strengthening of friendship, by applying both local and international curricula. With these efforts, Türkiye also contributes to the goals of 'Quality Education for Sustainable Development' announced in the United Nations Vision 2030 paper."
President Erdoğan stated that during the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak, schools affiliated with the Turkish Maarif Foundation had continued to provide education and training services uninterruptedly, making use of technological facilities.
Erdoğan stressed that the foundation had also proved its quality in its educational mission with this resolute attitude displayed at a critical period, and noted the following:
"We see that the schools of the Maarif Foundation are highly appreciated in the countries where they are located, not only for the quality of education they provide but also for their dedicated staff. Both the heads of state and government we receive in our country and our interlocutors during our visits abroad frequently express their gratitude for the presence of the Maarif Foundation in their countries. We are proud of your achievements, and we are proud on behalf of our country and nation. With the awareness that you are a part of a great state and a great nation, we expect that you will increase your pace even further. Without a doubt, the way to accomplish this is to work hard, keep up with the innovations in education, and embrace the universal without forsaking the native.
We need to promote an understanding that respects local needs and values while competing in the global arena. As a country that has no stain of colonialism in its history, I believe that the Turkish Maarif Foundation will lead the way in reinforcing the education vision that puts people and nature at the centre. I hope that the Istanbul Education Summit will be a turning point in determining our foundation's roadmap and increasing its rate of success."
Erdoğan wished the summit to be successful, thanked everyone who contributed to the summit's organisation, and expressed his gratitude to all the foundation members who served with sincerity, devotion, and passion in 46 countries of the world.
