Amidst the World Climate Action Summit, which is held at Expo City Dubai on the sidelines of the ongoing 28th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan discussed the Israeli hostilities against Palestinian territories with other world leaders.
In the summit hall, President Erdoğan exchanged greetings with President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan, President Pedro Sánchez of Spain, Prime Minister Narendra Modi of India, and President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva of Brazil. Following the opening session of the summit, President Erdoğan held bilateral discussions with some of the world leaders.
President Erdoğan initially met with First Minister Humza Yousaf of Scotland, followed by Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni of Italy and President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan.
The meeting between President Erdoğan and Meloni included the Israeli hostilities in Gaza, Türkiye's humanitarian efforts in the region, and the necessary steps required to establish a lasting peace.
Throughout the meeting, President Erdoğan asserted that the humanitarian crisis in the region continues to exacerbate with each passing day due to the ongoing hostilities, emphasising the importance of taking efficient actions to stop Israel and prevent further casualties.
President Erdoğan stated that recent events have once again revealed the significance of establishing an independent and sovereign Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders in the region, while stressing the importance of forging close cooperation with Italy in this respect.
President Erdoğan addressed the summit attendees before continuing with his meetings.
As part of his engagements at the summit, President Erdoğan received Prime Minister Fumio Kishida of Japan and met with summit-host President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan of the United Arab Emirates.
Israel's attacks on the Palestinian territories, the necessity of providing humanitarian aid to the region, as well as Türkiye-Japan relations, were all covered at President Erdoğan's meeting with Kishida.
During the meeting, President Erdoğan stated that the right to self-defence could not justify Israel's massacre-like attacks on Gaza and stressed the urgency of delivering humanitarian aid to Gaza. He added that it is crucial to halt Israel in accordance with international law, and the resolution passed by the UN General Assembly once again revealed Israel's isolation.
''The Islamic world must act in unity"
During President Erdoğan's meeting with Al Nahyan, they addressed the resumption of Israeli attacks on Gaza, Türkiye's efforts to provide humanitarian aid and promote peace, and relations between Türkiye and the UAE.
President Erdoğan said during the meeting that Türkiye was making every possible effort to stop Israel's massacre in Gaza and that the Islamic world needed to act in unity to stop Israel.
Stating that the resumption of hostilities is highly detrimental, President Erdoğan said that Türkiye is working to guarantee a permanent ceasefire as well as the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza.
