President Erdoğan inspects construction sites of Taksim Mosque and Atatürk Cultural Centre

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan inspected the construction sites of Taksim Mosque and Atatürk Cultural Centre in İstanbul.

Following the inspection of Atatürk Cultural Centre's construction works, President Erdoğan moved on to the construction site of the mosque at Taksim Square on foot.

Accompanying President Erdoğan during his inspections of the construction sites were Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, AK Party Spokesperson Ömer Çelik, Presidency's Director of Communications Fahrettin Altun, Presidential Spokesperson İbrahim Kalın, Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism Ahmet Misbah Demircan, Governor of İstanbul Ali Yerlikaya, Provincial Director of Culture and Tourism of İstanbul Coşkun Yılmaz, AK Party İstanbul Provincial Chairman Osman Nuri Kabaktepe, Mayor of Beyoğlu Haydar Ali Yıldız and other officials.

President Erdoğan left the mosque after his inspection that lasted about half an hour.

So far, the construction and the building works of the mosque at Taksim Square, designed by Architect Şefik Birkiye and Architect Selim Dalaman and the foundation of which was laid on February 17, 2017, with a plot area of about 2 thousand 482 square meters and a construction area of 16 thousand 220 square meters, has been completed by 99 per cent.
