President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan departed Ankara at 7:30 a.m. for a one-day working visit to Saudi Arabia and arrived at King Abdulaziz International Airport.
President Erdoğan was seen off at the airport by Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz and other officials.
Upon his arrival, President Erdoğan was welcomed by Mishaal bin Abdulazaziz Al Saud, Deputy Governor of the Makkah Region; Türkiye's Ambassador to Riyadh Emrullah İşler; and Consul General in Jeddah Mustafa Ünal.
President Erdoğan then travelled by road to Makkah.
As part of his working visit, President Erdoğan will meet with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif of Pakistan.
Türkiye, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan are expected to sign a trilateral defence agreement in Saudi Arabia today.
While Pakistan has undertaken mediation efforts to bring an end to the U.S.-Iran war, Türkiye has played an active diplomatic role in efforts to secure a ceasefire in Gaza.
Pakistan and Saudi Arabia had announced that they would sign a joint defense agreement in 2025.
Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif of Pakistan signed the "Joint Strategic Defense Agreement" on September 17.
