President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan inspected the ongoing search and rescue efforts in the earthquake-hit Adıyaman.
Delivering remarks to reporters in Adıyaman, President Erdoğan said: “Unfortunately, according to the latest data, the number of our citizens who have lost their lives has increased to 18,991 in our 10 provinces. The number of our citizens who have been saved has reached 75,523. And, over 76 thousand citizens of ours have been evacuated and sent to other provinces as per their requests.”
Noting that the construction of the new buildings would be completed and delivered within one year, President Erdoğan stated: “We have already launched the preparations. We have already instructed our Minister and TOKI to determine the reserve areas, remove the debris and immediately begin the constructions.”
Stressing that the Turkish Armed Forces, the police and the gendarmerie had been playing an active role in both ensuring security and carrying out the relief efforts in the quake-hit areas, President Erdoğan said: “Currently, 26 ships, 75 planes, 81 helicopters and over 12 thousand heavy equipment of every kind, which belong to the Turkish Armed Forces and our other security units, have been working selflessly round the clock in the area.”
