President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan attended the opening of Bilal Saygılı Mosque and Complex
President Erdoğan attended the opening ceremony of the Bilal Saygılı Mosque and Complex completed inside Ege University in İzmir, where he visited to hold various talks.
President Erdoğan attended the Friday prayer here, after which he inaugurated the mosque. Erdogan began his speech by greeting all participants, and wished for the mosque and complex to be beneficial for Izmir, Turkey, and especially Ege University. President Erdoğan congratulated those who contributed to the construction of the mosque.
Erdoğan expressed his gratitude to Bilal Saygılı and his family, for bringing to life such a place of worship, and added that the mosque was built with 16th century traditional Ottoman architecture and art, and is one of the symbols of İzmir with its location and unique aesthetics.
Erdoğan pointing that a total of 8 thousand people can pray at the same time inside the mosque, with 3 thousand 500 people in the closed area and 4 thousand 500 in the open area, stated that the mosque is one of the works of İzmir in Mimar Sinan’s style.
Erdogan said that the conference hall under the mosque would be used for various events, and that the mosque has a plot area of 7,500 square meters, a dome height of 28 meters and two minarets with two balconies, each 50 meters long.
Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Bekir Pakdemirli, Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Mehmet Cahit Turan, AK Party Deputy Chairman Hamza Dağ, AK Party Izmir Deputy Binali Yildirim also participated in the opening ceremony.
"They couldn't create the terror corridor"
Stating that Turkey has entered the terrorists den and that the terrorists are looking for a place to hide, Erdoğan continued his speech as follows:
"What happened in Syria, with the Peace Spring Operations we have put the terrorists harassing our borders to their place? Now they could not create the terror corridor.”
