President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan spoke by phone with President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen.
The call addressed the Türkiye-European Union relations as well as regional and global developments.
President Erdoğan said Türkiye strives for the preservation of ceasefire and establishment of peace in the regional conflicts, and that the Hormuz should be immediately opened.
President Erdoğan stated that Israel wants the conflicts in the region to continue, and maintains its international law violations, including piracy, and that it is crucial to increase international pressure on Israel.
Stressing that the tensions occurring in the region have once again demonstrated the strategic importance of Türkiye-European Union relations at the call, during which the resolution of the problems of mutual concern was focussed on so as to strengthen the economic integration, President Erdoğan noted that Türkiye’s participation in Europe’s initiatives on security strategies would be beneficial, that the Customs Union should be updated, and that it is important to enhance the cooperation in every area.
