President Erdoğan departs the US

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan departed Washington following his engagements in the US.

Following the conclusion of his meetings on the margins of the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan departed Blair House, where he had been staying, and proceeded to the White House, where President Donald Trump of the US formally welcomed him. 

After stepping out of his official vehicle, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan shook hands with President Donald Trump of the US and greeted members of the press before proceeding to the Oval Office for a one-on-one meeting with President Trump. President Erdoğan also left his signature in the White House Guest Book. 

Following a 2-hour and 20-minute meeting at the White House, Trump spoke briefly with President Erdoğan at the entrance, shook hands, and waved farewell as Erdoğan got into his official vehicle. 

After shaking hands individually with members of President Erdoğan’s delegation, President Trump of the US responded to press members who asked about the meeting, saying, ‘It was a great meeting.’” 

During the meeting, President Erdoğan was accompanied by Minister of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan, Minister of National Defence Yaşar Güler, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar, Director of National Intelligence Organisation İbrahim Kalın, the Presidency's Head of Communications Burhanettin Duran, and Chief Advisor to the President on Foreign Policy and Security Akif Çağatay Kılıç. 

President Erdoğan signed the Blair House guest book 

At the conclusion of the meeting, President Erdoğan posed for a commemorative photograph with First Lady Emine Erdoğan and staff at Blair House, the White House’s official guest residence in Washington, where he lodged, and also signed the Blair House guest book. 

President Erdoğan departed the US following his meetings. 

President Erdoğan was seen off at Joint Base Andrews Airfield by Türkiye's Ambassador to Washington, Sedat Önal, and other officials. 

Along with President Erdoğan and Emine Erdoğan, the officials who departed the US were Minister of Foreign Affairs Fidan, Minister of National Defence Güler, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Bayraktar, Director of National Intelligence Organisation Kalın, Presidency's Head of Communications Duran, Secretary of Defence Industries Haluk Görgün, Chief of Cabinet to the President Hasan Doğan, and Chief Advisor to the President on Foreign Policy and Security Akif Çağatay Kılıç.
