President Erdoğan departs for Brussels to attend NATO’s Extraordinary Leaders’ Summit

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan departed for Brussels, the capital of Belgium, at 20.30 to attend the NATO's Extraordinary Leaders' Summit.

President Erdoğan and First Lady Emine Erdoğan are accompanied to Brussels by Minister of Foreign Affairs Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, Minister of National Defence Hulusi Akar, Justice and Development (AK) Party Deputy Chairman and Spokesperson Ömer Çelik, Head of the Turkish Delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly (NATO PA) and AK Party Rize Deputy Osman Aşkın Bak, Presidency's Director of Communications Fahrettin Altun and Presidential Spokesperson İbrahim Kalın.

President Erdoğan is expected to meet with some of the participating heads of state and government on the margins of the Summit.

During the summit where the Russia-Ukraine war will be addressed, the measures aimed at strengthening the deterrence and defence structure of NATO will be reviewed.

Additionally, views on steps to be taken for and decisions to be made on shaping the future of the Alliance during the process leading up to the Madrid Summit, which is planned to be held in June, will be exchanged.
