President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan congratulated Hatice Akbaş on winning a gold medal at the 2026 European Boxing Championships.
President Erdoğan spoke with European champion Hatice Akbaş on Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports Hamza Yerlikaya’s phone. Yerlikaya attended the final bout in Sofia, Bulgaria.
Congratulating Akbaş, President Erdoğan said: “Congratulations, Hatice, my dear. Mashallah, this is your third gold medal now, isn't it? Mashallah. You'll be number one at the Olympics too. May Allah be with you and help you. My regards to your entire family. Congratulations once again. Give my regards to your mother, father and the whole family.”
The national boxer thanked President Erdoğan.
