President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan addressed the nation following the Presidential Cabinet Meeting held at the Presidential Complex.
Stating that a wide range of topics from health to safety, industry to agriculture and exports were discussed during the meeting, Erdoğan said, “We will hold our next cabinet meeting after completing our second year. God willing, we will share with our nation a comprehensive assessment on Turkey's new system of government on the occasion of its second anniversary, after our next cabinet meeting. As it has been since March, the priority agenda of our meeting has been on the coronavirus pandemic and its consequences. As one of the countries that have been combatting the pandemic most effectively throughout the world, we are determined to strictly protect our achievements.”
Emphasizing that they have been on the safe side in the fight against coronavirus, President Erdoğan said that they had never made concessions particularly on hygiene, mask and social distancing criteria.
Indicating that Turkey had successfully managed the pandemic, Erdoğan stated, “Common view both domestically and internationally is that Turkey will become one of the star countries of the world that will be reshaped in the wake of the pandemic.”
Underlining that the power of Turkey’s healthcare infrastructure and General Health Insurance System was at an unquestionable level, Erdoğan said that keeping the wheels spinning in many sectors even under the most challenging circumstances had proven Turkey's production potential to the world.
“Our neighbor, Iraq, is one of the countries most affected by the coronavirus pandemic in the recent period. An aid package will be sent to Iraqis tomorrow, particularly to the Turkmens living in Iraq. This package includes all kinds of materials needed during the pandemic period, from masks to overalls, from respirators to medicine. Turkey, thus, will once again show that it stands with its neighbors, friends and its brothers and sisters. Surely, our success in the fight against the pandemic alone is not enough. Starting with our close circle, countries with whom we have strong social, economic and commercial relations should also achieve the same success. When we consider the global outlook, it seems that the pandemic is taken under control to a great extent across Europe, including Turkey. On the other hand, the pandemic continues in South and North America and also in Asia at full speed. With more than 10 million cases and over 500,000 deaths, the world is giving a historic test against this pandemic. The continuation of the pandemic makes it difficult for us as the country to see ahead of us, too.” Erdoğan said.
