President Erdoğan chairs security meeting

A security meeting was held under the chairmanship of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to assess the latest developments in the region.

The meeting held in the Presidency's Dolmabahce Office lasted 3 hours.

Director of Communications Fahrettin Altun stated that the most recent developments in Iraq, tension between the U.S. and Iran and the latest situation in Libya and Syria were discussed thorougly in the security meeting. 

Noting that the latest developments in the region were discussed in the meeting, Altun said: "Our President stressed that Turkey should maintain its constructive stance, continue to take effective steps towards restoring peace and stability and make full use of all diplomatic means in the face of regional developments."

The meeting chaired by President Erdoğan was  attended by Vice President Fuat Oktay, Minister of Foreign Affairs Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, Minister of National Defence Hulusi Akar, AK Party Deputy Chairman Mahir Ünal, AK Party Group Deputy Chairman Muhammet Emin Akbaşoğlu, AK Party Spokesperson Ömer Çelik, Director of National Intelligence Organization Hakan Fidan, Director of Communications Fahrettin Altun and Presidential Spokesperson İbrahim Kalın.
