President Erdoğan calls Turkish Football Federation Head Özdemir

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan spoke to the head of Turkish Football Federation (TFF) Nihat Özdemir about the ill-treatment of Turkish national team and the events that took place at Keflavik Airport in Iceland, where the team arrived for a qualifications match of the UEFA Euro 2020 in Group H.

According to TFF’s statement, President Erdoğan called Özdemir and said the government took all necessary actions and measures regarding the incident.

Recep Tayyip Erdoğan asked Nihat Özdemir to convey his following message to the technical delegation and national team: "Team manager Şenol Güneş and our footballers must keep their motivation high. Turkish people side with them.”

Özdemir expressed his gratitude to President Erdoğan for his support to the national team.

The statement also reminded that the Minister of Youth and Sports Mehmet Kasapoğlu would fly to Iceland today with a delegation to show solidarity with TFF and Turkish national team and would be there to support our team during the match tomorrow.
