President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan attended an iftar dinner on the occasion of the month of Muharram at the Presidential Complex.
Welcoming his guests to the Presidential Complex, President Erdoğan congratulated them on the occasion of the month of Muharram.
Remembering Husayn ibn Ali and his over 70 companions with grace and reverence on the 1387th anniversary of their martyrdom, President Erdoğan said: “We still feel the sorrow, bitterness, grief, and mourning of Karbala deep in our hearts.”
“We have never neglected our Alevi brothers and sisters”
Stating that from the very first day they assumed office with the support of the nation, they have approached every citizen of the country with the same sentiment, President Erdoğan said: “We have not treated anyone differently because of their faith, sect, creed, or worldview. We have looked upon everyone like ‘Yunus’. In particular, we have never neglected our Alevi brothers and sisters. We have taken very close care of all their problems.”
Noting that with the establishment of the Alevi-Bektashi Culture and Cemevi Presidency in 2022, they have intensified their efforts to ensure that services in cemevis (places of worship) are carried out effectively and efficiently on an institutional basis, President Erdoğan said: “As of today, the lighting expenses of 1133 cemevis across our country are covered by our Presidency. In the last 3 years, we have provided significant support amounting to TL800 million for the maintenance, repair, and furnishing of 530 cemevis. As of March 2026, we have processed the maintenance, repair, and furnishing requests of 311 cemevis, and we will provide services to 500 of them by the end of the year. We, as the state, met the needs of 113 cemevis in 11 provinces affected by the February 6 earthquakes. The construction and restoration work of 13 cemevis that were destroyed or severely damaged in 7 provinces is ongoing. These will hopefully be completed in a very short time.”
