Delivering a speech at the “Strong Families with Mothers, Strong Türkiye with Families” event to mark Mother’s Day, President Erdoğan said: “Just as the family is the bedrock of the society, the mother is the bedrock of the family. No matter what you do, you cannot achieve peace, success and prosperity in a society where mothers are not strong. We have never ignored this truth in our 23 years in power.”
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan spoke at the “Strong Families with Mothers, Strong Türkiye with Families” event to mark Mother’s Day in Istanbul.
President Erdoğan said: “Just as the family is the bedrock of the society, the mother is the bedrock of the family. No matter what you do, you cannot achieve peace, success and prosperity in a society where mothers are not strong. We have never ignored this truth in our 23 years in power. This has always guided us in our endeavors concerning mothers and children as well as our efforts to strengthen the family institution. With all our relevant units, including the ministries of family and labor, we have strongly supported our families, particularly our mothers.”
President Erdoğan stated: “Unfortunately, we are marking Mother’s Day with a heavy heart under the shadow of grave tragedies this year too. We are going through a difficult period when mothers, fathers and children in Palestine, Syria, Lebanon, Somalia, Sudan, Yemen and in many other places are struggling with wars, famine, diseases and lack of medications. Wherever we look at, we see children killed, wherever we turn our faces to, we see women killed. Innocent Gazans waiting in food lines, victims struggling to survive under rubbles are being massacred in an extremely brutal manner. We continue to exert every effort in our power to put an end to these tragedies and sufferings both in the geography of our heart and across the world. I pray that Allah will let us reach the days when peace and welfare prevail on earth and Mother’s Day is celebrated in joy.”
