President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has declared a one-day national mourning tomorrow in commemoration of the martyrdom of Head of the Hamas Political Bureau Ismail Haniyeh.
In a post shared on his social media account, President Erdoğan stated, "To express our support for the Palestinian Cause and our solidarity with our Palestinian brothers and sisters, one-day national mourning has been declared to be observed tomorrow (Friday, August 2) in commemoration of the martyrdom of Head of the Hamas Political Bureau Ismail Haniyeh. I remember Ismail Haniyeh and other Palestinian martyrs with mercy and express condolences to the Palestinian people on behalf of myself and my nation."
President Erdoğan's post also featured the decision on the Declaration of National Mourning, which was signed by him.
The said decision states, "It has been decided to declare a one-day national mourning in honour of the martyrdom of Head of the Hamas Political Bureau Ismail Haniyeh, one of the prominent leaders of the Palestinian cause, as a result of a heinous assassination carried out in Tehran on July 31, 2024, and to fly flags at half-mast until sunset on Friday, August 2, 2024, across the country and at our foreign missions. I request that the necessary action be taken in light of this information."
