President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan noted that they discussed the efforts undertaken to end the conflicts and violence in Gaza with the Head of the Hamas Political Bureau, Ismail Haniyeh.
In a post shared on his social media account, President Erdoğan stated that he had a phone conversation with Haniyeh prior to the Cabinet meeting.
Stating that they discussed the efforts made to resolve the conflicts and violence in Gaza with Haniyeh, President Erdoğan noted that, during the phone conversation, they assessed Hamas' approval of the ceasefire proposal received from the mediators.
President Erdoğan indicated that Hamas' decision, taken in line with Türkiye's suggestions, was favourably viewed and said, "We emphasised the need for Israel to take action as well in pursuit of a permanent ceasefire. I urge all parties—and especially Western countries—to impose the necessary pressure on Israel for a ceasefire."
