Stating that Turgut Özal had played a significant role in strengthening democracy and enhancing the welfare and development of the country as well as pioneering the change and transformation of Turkey, Erdoğan noted the following in his message:
“Turgut Özal, who has an exceptional place in the hearts of our grand nation, will always be remembered with gratitude for his valuable services. I wish God’s mercy on the anniversary of the passing of the eighth President of Turkey, Turgut Özal, and remember him with respect."
