Presidency’s Directorate of Communications organizes “Turkey Panel” in China

Presidency’s Directorate of Communications organized “Turkey Panel” in Beijing prior to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s visit to China.

The panel titled “Turkey and China in the New Era: Countering Global Challenges with a Bilateral Perspective” was held in Beijing within the framework of the panel series “Turkey Talks” by Presidency’s Directorate of Communications.

Presidency’s Directorate of Communications organized the new leg of “Turkey Talks” panel series in China's capital Beijing within the scope of the activities carried out with the vision to “strengthen the Turkey brand”.

Within the framework of the program in Beijing, the Turkish delegation for the first time held a round-table meeting during which bilateral relations between Turkey and China, regional and global threats were discussed with the officials of China Institute of International Studies (CIIS).

Afterwards, a panel titled “Turkey and China in the New Era: Countering Global Challenges with a Bilateral Perspective” was held in cooperation with China Institute of Contemporary International Relations (CICIR). Turkey's Ambassador to Beijing Abdulkadir Emin Önen delivered a speech at the opening of the panel in which the representatives of diplomatic missions, media, academia and non-governmental organizations showed great interest. It was stated during the panel that it is essential to take initiatives to develop cooperation and create common interests between the two countries and emphasis was made that the multidimensional relations between Turkey and China gained further importance for the fight against the global challenges which emerged in the changing world order.

Ahmet Yıldız (Deputy of Denizli, Former Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs), Prof. Mehmet Akif Kireçci (Member of the Presidential Security and Foreign Policies Board and Lecturer at Ankara University of Social Sciences) and Dr. Li Yanan (Researcher of China Institute of Contemporary International Relations, Middle East Studies) were the speakers of the panel which was moderated by Niu Xinchun (Director of Middle East Studies, China Institute of Contemporary International Relations). After the panel, Ahmet Yıldız and Prof. Mehmet Akif Kireçci gave interviews to the press on Turkey-China relations.

As part of the program, the Turkish delegation also met with Ms. Fu Ying, chairperson of the Chinese National People's Congress Foreign Affairs Committee.

The program in Beijing will end with the participation of the Turkish delegation in the Gala Program for the 20th Anniversary of Turkish Airlines Direct Flights between Turkey and China.
