Presidency’s Director of Communications Altun attends the symposium in Afyonkarahisar via video message

Director of Communications Altun: "We are determined to continue our fight against the groups that have been targeting the Turkish nation and state for many years by preserving our ancestors' determination to struggle along with the spirit of unity and solidarity they put forward 100 years ago."

Presidency's Director of Communications Fahrettin Altun attended the "International Symposium of the Great Offensive and the Field Battle of the Commander-in-Chief' in the 100th Year" via video message and said he was glad to be among the organisers of the symposium.

Emphasising that the Great Offensive and the Field Battle of the Commander-in-Chief paved the way to victory in the War of Independence, which was waged with the motto of "either freedom or death", Director of Communications Altun said that it is meaningful that August 26 is both the anniversary of Great Offensive and the Manzikert Victory. Director of Communications Altun continued as follows:

"Our nation, which has a 2,200-year-old state and military tradition and a thousand-year-old geographical continuity, shows today, as it did yesterday, that it will not accept imperial ambitions and invasion attempts. The Great Offensive and the Field Battle of the Commander-in-Chief best reveal the fact that a strong state on the battlefield will have a strong hand at the table as well. Today our nation is eradicating military, political, and economic attacks and sabotage against its country with the same spirit and without compromising its independence. We are determined to continue our fight against the groups that have been targeting the Turkish nation and state for many years by preserving our ancestors' determination to struggle along with the spirit of unity and solidarity they put forward 100 years ago. We will always and under all circumstances defend the rights and interests of our nation against initiatives and endeavours that fail to learn from the past. As declared by our President, our nation will continue to destroy the threats to its survival both today and tomorrow as it did yesterday.

Pointing out that all the victories that have a sacred place in history will continue to be explained to the new generations in the most effective manner possible, Director of Communications Altun stated that they coordinate the efforts to celebrate the Great Offensive and Victory Day with great enthusiasm and preparations as befits their glories.

Director of Communications Altun underlined that they take special care to crown the national holidays, during which the state becomes integrated with its nation, with activities that allow each citizen to participate in the celebrations and make them feel proud.

Expressing his gratitude to Afyonkarahisar Governorship, Atatürk Supreme Council for Culture, Language and History, Turkish Historical Society, Afyonkarahisar Municipality and Afyon Kocatepe University Rectorate, academicians and researchers, who organised the symposium, Director of Communications Altun commemorated Ghazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, Commander-in-Chief of the Great Offensive, the heroes, martyrs and veterans of the War of Independence.
