Presidency’s Communications Director Prof. Fahrettin Altun has given the following response to the post containing disinformation shared on the official Twitter account of the US Embassy in Turkey: “We will continue to urge the United States to stop hiding behind press freedom.”
Altun posted the following on his Twitter account: “We will continue to urge the United States to stop hiding behind press freedom. Instead of pointing fingers at other nations, Washington must focus on addressing longstanding problems such as extreme poverty and racial discrimination.”
A manipulative tweet was earlier posted on the official Twitter account of the US Embassy in Turkey. The tweet read the following: “We will continue to urge Turkey to respect and ensure freedom of expression, fair trial guarantees and judicial independence.”
