Presidency’s Communications Director Altun: “The events of 1915 should be addressed without being used as a tool for political interests”

Presidency’s Communications Director Prof. Fahrettin Altun stated that the events of 1915 should be addressed in the light of accurate and real information without being used as a tool for political interests and the ideological perspectives based on the unilateral decisions of the third countries should be abandoned.

Prof. Fahrettin Altun made the following remarks on his Twitter account:

“The events of 1915 should be addressed in the light of accurate and real information without being used as a tool for political interests and the ideological perspectives based on the unilateral decisions of the third countries should be abandoned.

One should act with a constructive and balanced approach towards the events of 1915 and the losses and suffering of both parties should be taken into consideration instead of just one side's views.

There is no problem that Turks and Armenians, who have been living together for 800 years, cannot solve today through a genuine dialogue - as long as colonial powers are not allowed to try and discipline our country and to politicize the history with the so-called Armenian genocide allegations.

There is no international political and academic consensus/legal decision that recognizes the events of 1915 as genocide.

Unilateral dispositions and non-binding decisions by third countries disregarding Turkey’s initiatives to reach a solution on the events of 1915 are shadowing efforts to reveal the truth.

And... #WeHaveNotForgottenOurMartyredDiplomats

We commemorate with respect and mercy our diplomats martyred by ASALA terrorist organization.

May God rest their souls…”
