Presidency’s Directorate of Communications receives the “Best Project” award with CIMER

Presidency’s Communication Center (CIMER), which operates under Presidency’s Directorate of Communications, was selected as the “Best Project” among 366 projects in the category of “Access to Information” at the World Summit on the Information Society  (WSIS)  held in Geneva by the UN International Telecommunication Union.

In a statement about the award, Presidency’s  Communications Director Prof. Fahrettin Altun said: “CIMER established with the directive of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, in order to  strengthen the state-society relationship which takes place among our main activity areas, is carrying out a very important function."

Stating that they received the first international award as the Presidency’s Directorate of Communications, Prof. Altun said: “We are pleased that CIMER has been selected as the 'Best Project'  among 366 projects in the ‘Access to Information’ category at the World Summit on the Information Society organized by the UN International Telecommunication Union in Geneva.”

1,064 projects compete in 18 categories

Presidency’s Directorate of Communications ranked among the top 5 projects and received the “WSIS Prize 2019 Champion” award in the “Access to Information” category with CIMER in the competition where more than 2 million votes were casted and 1,064 candidates competed in 18 categories.

The World Summit on the Information Society, which is being held on April 8-12, 2019, with the theme of  “Information and Communication Technologies for Achieving Sustainable Development Goals”, enables a large crowd interested in the development of information communication technologies to come together every year.

The summit has been organized with the cooperation of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), UNESCO, UNDP and UNCTAD.
