In line with the circular signed by President Erdoğan, the week of June 5 will be celebrated as "Türkiye Environment Week" every year.
According to the Presidential Circular published in today's issue of the Official Gazette with the signature of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the week of June 5 will be celebrated as "Türkiye Environment Week" with a theme to be announced by the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change.
In the circular, it is reminded that June 5 has been celebrated as World Environment Day since the United Nations Conference on the Environment held in 1972 with the aim of raising awareness on the protection of the environment.
The circular spells out how the World Environment Day, which is celebrated with the motto "Only One Earth" under a different theme each year, will be held in 2022 with an emphasis on sustainable, nature-compatible, cleaner, and greener living, adding, "In our country, where environmental awareness on the protection of the natural environment, the creation of sustainable living environments, and the fight against climate change is growing by the day, the week of June 5 will be marked every year as Türkiye Environment Week, with a theme to be announced by the Ministry of Environment, Urbanisation and Climate Change in order to organise the World Environment Day celebrations in a more participatory and multi-stakeholder manner, as well as to evaluate environmental problems and developments.”
