The CEO of Togg, Gürcan Karakaş, briefed the Erdoğan couple on the smart device's features and upcoming models.
"How will we be able to listen to Turkish Classical Music?" asked President Erdoğan, and Karakaş said that the car was ex-factory and that no installation had been done.
In response to First Lady Emine Erdoğan’s remark, "For the record, the car is mine”, President Erdoğan replied by saying, "I am the captain right now, and you will follow the captain. It doesn't matter if the car is yours; what matters is who is driving", which stirred up laughter.
When the Erdoğan couple drew attention to how the car drove so quietly, Togg CEO Karakaş said, "The pleasant aspects of electric cars in terms of comfort are their silence and interior volume. As there is no internal combustion engine, there is no transmission tunnel. Therefore, the rear is very comfortable. Our next car will be a C-segment sedan, which we plan to introduce between the end of 2024 and the beginning of 2025. Türkiye remains a large market for sedans. We want to get a share of it.”
When President Erdoğan asked about the car to be delivered to President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan, Gürcan Karakaş said a car of the same model had been sent to Aliyev.
First Lady Emine Erdoğan thanked those who contributed to the production of the car. The Erdoğan couple was accompanied by the Minister of Industry and Technology Mustafa Varank.
